Gloria J. Archie has been the Area Vice President of the Technical/Clinical/Clerical (TCC) bargaining unit of Local 1168 at Buffalo General Hospital (BGH) since 1987.  She is also a member of the Executive Board of Local 1168, and works in the BGH Primary Medical Clinic.  She was hired at BGH (Kaleida Health) in 1970.

Gloria is the long-serving Chairperson of Local 1168’s Community Service Committee which was recognized in 2003 by the United Way of WNY for outstanding support of United Way programs.  She has also been a member of the CWA Committee on Equity since 1990.  She serves on several other hospital and union committees, including Job Security, the Buffalo AFL-CIO Council, Workforce Retraining, the Minority Caucus, the Coalition of Black Trade Unions and the Bargaining Committee. 

One of the original organizers of the BGH-TCC bargaining unit in 1984-1986, Gloria has been both an alternate delegate and a delegate to the National Convention of the CWA.  She was the recipient of the United Way’s George L. Wessel Labor Award in 2003.

Gloria is a graduate of the LPN Program at the Fosdick Masten Vocational School, and is the mother of three and grandmother of seven.
