Her background is union, as her father was a member of United Steel Workers, her mother was a member of a teacher’s union and her husband is a retired member of United Autoworkers. She has been a Chief steward for many years and was one of the members who went on a 320 mile walk to Albany to save our hospitals. She has been on television and radio in the past, advocating for nurse-to-patient ratio’s and other health care issues. She has lobbied in Albany and Washington DC. She worked for CWA District One temporarily as an educator to mobilize for the 2008 elections. She writes for STAT and has been published numerous times in the Buffalo News. She is passionate about politics and considers herself a “political junkie.” Currently, she is working part-time for CWA 1168 as a mobilizer/organizer and loves her job as well as the people she works with. She was instrumental in mobilizing the members to stand together for a fair contract and currently is working toward winning good contracts for the non-Kaleida sites as well as organizing non union sites to join. She has three children, four grandchildren and one on the way. The youngest is three and can say proudly “union busting is disgusting” and all have been on the picket line. She is passionate about unionism. She states “I believe unions are the one thing left to save the middle class and stand up to corporations. When people have good wages and benefits they are able to support the local economy, pay taxes, purchase homes….everybody wins.” If she had one wish it would be to have our members understand how important it is to get involved in our union, stand strong together and be counted in. We have so many committees and union steward positions that are just begging for people to join. You can join with her and others by calling 71-816-1168 and signing up today. "United we stand, divided we beg.”
