Linda Sheehan
AVP BGH RN
Biography
May 2008

I have been an employee at BGH for 25 years, first as a nurse aide, then LPN and 22 years as an RN. I have worked on Medical/Surgical units but have spent most of my nursing years as an IV therapy Nurse. I was one of the first RN’s to insert a PIC line at BGH in 1991.

I was a union steward and chief steward for 5 years, and in 1998
I became the BGH RN District Director (now known as the Area Vice President).
I have bargained 4 contracts and the 1998 Effects Agreement.

A nurse is someone who takes care of the patients. My motto is that I am the nurse who takes care of the nurses. I love my job as the AVP, I am proud of the work we do here for our members.

There is still much work to do to protect the nurses, and protect the patients; such as nurse to pt ratios, safe staffing, working conditions and the ability to retire from a very demanding profession with a decent pension.
