UPDATE NO. 6
Union Contract Extended to Friday, June 14 at Midnight
The union contract between Kaleida Health and approximately 8,000 workers represented by 1199SEIU, CWA Local 1168, and IUOE Local 17 has been extended to Friday, June 14th at midnight. If a contract settlement is not reached by the 14th, the committee will re-assess the situation with management and update members on a contract extension or expiration.
On Friday, May 31st our joint bargaining committee presented a complete economic package to Kaleida Health. This week, several bargaining unit members representing each union gave presentations to management discussing national, regional, and local trends in healthcare pay rates for more than 46 job titles. Each group was given time to discuss changes to their work in the past 3 years.
Our priorities are clear. We know what’s at stake. Members returned surveys telling the bargaining committee what they are willing to do to win a fair contract. We must protect our future, sustain our quality of life, and continue to provide excellent care to our patients. As we continue to bargain for a fair contract, it is our intent to keep members informed of progress by providing updates. Get involved and stay informed via text messages, leaflets, and Facebook. Members can join the discussion on Facebook by searching “Kaleida Negotiations 2019.” To join the Facebook group you must answer all 3 questions to get the latest bargaining updates immediately.
By now, you should notice members wearing #QualityJobsEqualsQualityCare buttons in your facility. Consider this button as part of your uniform and wear it daily at work! This button is a show of solidarity and strength as we continue to negotiate our contract with Kaleida Health. If you have not received your button, please contact your union delegate, steward or mobilizer.
