It’s time for Lobby Day 2016! CWA 1168, along with other healthcare workers across the state, will be traveling to Albany again this year to talk face to face with state legislators about the urgent need to pass the Safe Staffing Bill!
There are two options! A group of us will be taking a day trip on a bus leaving at 4:30 AM on May 10. We will have a brief training in the morning, attend prescheduled meetings with legislators, have lunch, then attend a couple more meetings before back on our bus to head home that day.
The second on option is to leave on Monday, May 9, at noon. You will arrive in Albany by 5:00 PM to attend an additional educational training that evening. You will join other members on Tuesday to attend the meetings with legislators and will head back to Buffalo Tuesday afternoon.
Those coming up the night before (Monday May 9) will be staying at a block of rooms at the Desmond Hotel, Albany. The cost of the room is free to you, but please know the rooms are double occupancy and will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
The following will be provided:
- A continental breakfast in addition to lunch on Tuesday
- A Lobby Day T-shirt
- Travel: bus or carpool depending which departure day has more interest
- Dinner on Monday may be provided, we will let you know soon!

Remember, no matter which side of the bed you are on, safe staffing matters to our members, to our patients, and to our community. We need to let our elected officials know!!!
