“learn more about how to create a better environment for teens in the healthcare setting and learn best practices in adolescent healthcare”
PATCH Buffalo is offering a free, open workshop for any healthcare providers or youth-serving professionals looking to learn more about how to create a better environment for teens in the healthcare setting and learn best practices in adolescent healthcare. Workshop includes the option of 1.5 CMEs! It is led by the youth because they are the experts! We find this workshop is also great for social workers who help youth navigate healthcare on multiple levels.
February 23, 9am-11am at Planned Parenthood of Central and Western NY Main St, Buffalo
Research reveals an array of communication barriers, stigmas, and gaps in training that interfere with the ability of health care professionals and teens to talk openly and honestly about sensitive health topics. PATCH for Providers is an innovative, teen-delivered, educational workshop that equips health care professionals to ensure an environment that prioritizes confidentiality, judgment-free care, and effective communication strategies that resonate with teens.
● Increased knowledge about the concerns, fears, preferences, and priorities of teen patients, as well as skills and resources to facilitate open, honest, and effective communication with teens
● Increased confidence in personal ability to provide high-quality care to teens by creating a confidential, non-judgmental environment that allows teens to be open, honest, and feel supported
● Behavioral intentions to utilize knowledge, skills, and resources to create a confidential, nonjudgmental health care environment that allows teens to be open, honest, and to feel supported
