This Tuesday we are making a one-day trip to Pittsburgh to show our support for CWA and Teamsters Locals during this Holiday Season. Our Union Sisters and Brothers have been on strike against the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since the beginning of October and are in need of our support this holiday season. Union members from these locals have just recently qualified for unemployment and with Christmas being next week it’s an even more challenging time.
Local 1168 has contributed to their strike fund last month and we also have a generous donation that was collected at the stewards meeting last week. Many local CWA members experienced challenges during the Mercy strike. It was uplifting and meant a great deal to those on the lines to see the solidarity from their labor families.
We plan to have some space for passengers in our cars or are seeking volunteers to drive if necessary. We are planning to meet at Tops 355 Orchard Park Road, W. Seneca, NY 14224 promptly at 8:30 am. Make sure you have breakfast and bring a snack for the ride. We will grab something for lunch on our way back to Buffalo. We plan to be back in Buffalo by 5pm.
If it is your steward day in the office, you are encouraged to accompany the group, but you must notify your AVP and make sure you are able to attend.
We know it’s short notice. but if you can make the trip, please call Mary Nowocien at 716-380-2727 by 6 pm on Monday 12/19.
If you are unable to attend on Tuesday, please consider donating to their strike fund by following the link below,
